Worker believed gas line was buried deeper

A major gas leak that took place Nov. 15 occurred when a contract worker sliced through a major distribution line with a road saw, which he was operating under the belief he had roughly 8 inches of clearance.
City Safety Service Director Mary Siwierka said the natural gas line was properly marked for its location, but an elevation change with the line was unknown before it was punctured.
