Woman Dies in NC Mountains After Oxygen Cut off in Power Outage
Clean-up from this weekend’s winter storm has been nonstop in Western North Carolina.
At Polk County High School on Monday, the volunteers with American Red Cross were moving people who were staying at the shelter inside the high school over to the middle school for more consistent electricity.
Red Cross and county workers moved about 45 people Monday morning, many of them being older adults, including some on oxygen.
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said Monday during a news conference that a woman living on hospice care passed away in Haywood County.
