At Infrastructure Resources (IR), our mission has always been to help save lives through education on safe excavation and damage prevention. It is not just on our business cards; we are passionate about it. You may know us for this publication or the conference, but I thought you might like to learn a little more about the other initiatives IR has created.
Launched in 2005, the nationally-recognized Excavation Safety Guide is an unparalleled publication designed to help excavators navigate safely through the excavation process from pre-planning to job completion. With over nine million annual Guides in print, the Excavation Safety Guide is the source for changing industry laws, regulations and tips to aid contractors in digging safely. Visit ExcavationSafetyGuide.com to learn more about this valuable resource.
Infrastructure Resources was instrumental in developing the inaugural Oceania Damage Prevention Conference in 2018 with Platinum sponsor DBYD and our Australian partner, PelicanCorp. This very successful event was the first national conference focused solely on damage prevention in Australia and we are already at work planning the next conference, scheduled in August of 2020.
Contracted by the CCGA, IR has produced the CCGA Damage Prevention Symposium since 2013. This national event focusses on critical issues specific to Canadian stakeholders.
Understanding the real need within the industry to reach farmers and ranchers with safe excavation information, we founded the Pipeline Ag Safety Alliance (PASA) to work directly with the National Association of County Agricultural Agents to get this important information into the hands of America’s farmers and ranchers through the resource they trust most.
Held the last full week of April, Locator Safety Awareness Week (LSAW) was create in 2014 by Infrastructure Resources in cooperation with Nulca as an opportunity to thank locators for a job well done and ensure they have the appropriate tools at their disposal to do it accurately and safety. IR provides FREE tools and resources available for download on the dp-PRO website.
Our Damage Prevention Hero Awards were created to recognize the people who make things happen (frequently below the radar) to keep our infrastructure, our people, and our communities safe. Celebrated in each issue of dp-PRO, our heroes are nominated by our readership and honored at the Conference each year.
Created to help the industry attract and mentor those who are new to the damage prevention industry and help them find their place, Emerging Damage Prevention Leaders is a self-run group focusing on giving our future leaders a solid foundation. Learn more on page 27.
Infrastructure Resources created the 811 Mudder concept as a way to increase public awareness and provide a unique team-building opportunity. The FREE toolkit is available at dp-pro.com/toolkits/. Learn more on page V of the digital edition.
Created in 2013 to drive public awareness and damage prevention outreach in a non-conventional way, Infrastructure Resources worked with Sunshine 811 to pull off the first 811 Run in West Palm Beach at the Conference. Now in 13 states, the 811 Run is a unique avenue to reach the public and talk about safe digging. The FREE toolkit, a joint effort by a variety of industry professionals, is available at dp-PRO.com/toolkits.
Frequently, we feature stories in dp-PRO about people within the industry who donate their time and talent to causes outside damage prevention that make our world a better place, because saving lives isn’t a 9-5 job.
Expanding yet again, Infrastructure Resources now provides a complete line of online training opportunities, along with training videos. Visit dp-pro.com for more information.
Many of the initiatives we develop and implement here at IR are created simply because they serve our core values and help the industry. Our commitment – whether it is producing the industry’s best Conference or donating our time to developing a new group – is also a commitment to you, our industry partners. Together we can reach zero damages, and we at IR are passionate about doing our part.
