New “Call Before You Dig” Rules Go into Effect

West Virginia has had a law requiring people to call 811 before digging for a while, but in 2018 there are new rules.  The West Virginia Legislature made changes (SB631) in the West Virginia Damage Prevention Law. and the One Call (811) system.

According to the Public Service Commission, anyone, including excavators, contractors or homeowners can face civil penalties if they don’t call 811 at least two days before they begin digging.  Penalties range from being required to complete a training course, to a $5,000 fine…(Read the full story)
