After complaints that tagged streets and sidewalks are left unwashed, contractors working in Mill Valley will be required to remove paint used to mark underground utilities.

And when authorizing work permits, the city staff also will request that contractors use a water soluble chalk-based paint that easily washes away with water and scrubbing, rather than an oil-based paint that takes six months or longer to fade.
