MetroNet promises to crack down on bad installation work after complaints in South Elgin

A spokeswoman for a company laying fiber-optic cable for television, internet and phone service in South Elgin has promised to give the village monthly updates in the wake of residents complaining about their installation work.
South Elgin Village Board member Mike Kolodziej, speaking at Monday’s board meeting, said he has had eight to 10 emails from residents and has seen complaints on social media posted by people angered by MetroNet and its employees.
Among the charges cited are installation crews who have left gates open, provided inconsistent information, left trash behind, and created mounds of dirt and open holes that took weeks to be fixed. One worker who publicly urinated outside a house has been fired, Kolodziej said…(Read the full story)
