Legislators start 811 revamp tour in Greeley

Local utility officials on Tuesday gave legislators an earful in downtown Greeley in the first effort to revamp the state’s utility location program in 30 years. Although the proposed program is more a response to federal requirements to update an aging notification program, the biggest concern was about an element in the planned bill that would exempt agricultural operations from notification requirements, especially in the wake of recent tragedies involving pipeline explosions.
