Gas Contractor Working in Lawrence on Day of Explosions Identified, Sources Tell 5 Investigates

Sources tell 5 Investigates that Feeney Brothers Utility Services was performing underground gas line work last Thursday on the south side of Lawrence, the area being looked at by investigators as they try to determine what caused last week’s natural gas disaster in the Merrimack Valley.
“The NTSB is in the midst of an investigation with which we are fully cooperating. Until they release the preliminary findings, we cannot comment on any aspect of work for Columbia Gas,” said Nancy Sterling, a spokeswoman for Feeney Brothers.
Permits released by the city of Lawrence late Tuesday show that Feeney Brothers and R.H. White were contractors doing work for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts to complete “gas main tie ins and retirement of dual cast iron gas mains…” (Read the full story)
