Community Notebook: Utilities Department to Host ‘Community Resilience Workshop

Palo Alto is launching a series of workshops this Tuesday to learn how it can better prepare for natural disasters and remain environmentally and economically sustainable in the midst of climate changes and developing technology.
The event, hosted by the Utilities Department and Utilities Advisory Commission, revolves around the idea of community resilience and essentials related to utility services.
“For the city of Palo Alto, we’ve got our own utilities system so we need to be thinking of (resiliency) from a utilities resource perspective — that could involve ensuring all our utilities assets such as water, gas, electricity, wastewater, refuse, are designed in such a way that they can quickly withstand and recover from a natural disaster,” Palo Alto Utilities Communications Manager Catherine Elvert said…(Read the full story)
