The Common Ground Alliance (CGA) is gearing up for 2018! CGA released
its eighth consecutive communications Plan and Calendar via webinar in November to guide stakeholders in their efforts to promote the 811 message and other core damage prevention programs and practices.
The 2018 Communications Plan features a calendar with daily, weekly and monthly tasks, as well as artwork files, template news releases, contributed articles, social media posts and email blasts. The plan includes new case studies from successful stakeholder campaigns in 2017, as well as returning favorites.
The 2018 Plan incorporates communications toolkits that CGA has developed for several of its key damage prevention programs, including DIRT Report marketing materials, a Best Practices toolkit and the Stakeholder Advocacy toolkit. It also includes information, tutorials and marketing materials for two of CGA’s special 811 promotional tools available to members in 2018: two 811 Hot Air Balloons that will tour the country, and CGA’s 811 Virtual Reality Experience.
CGA’s Communications Plan is a living document hosted on the CGA website at commongroundalliance.com/damage-prevention/toolkits/811- campaign. throughout 2017, new toolkits were added to support campaigns including 811 horse racing efforts, a motorsports toolkit, 10th anniversary logos and an enhanced hurricane response toolkit.
The 2018 Plan features a new case study about South Carolina 811’s use of the 811
Hot Air Balloon to garner excellent local media, in addition to putting on an event that educated the community about the importance of calling 811.
