A construction worker suffered a fractured leg when he was trapped in a collapsed trench Wednesday afternoon in Warren, according to city officials.

The 30-year-old worker was part of a crew weatherproofing a house on Timken Avenue, northwest of Nine Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, when the ground gave way, trapping him. Fire crews dug to free the worker, who was transported to St. John Macomb Hospital.

Warren Mayor Jim Fouts said in a Facebook post that the worker was buried up to his waist in the six-foot-deep, two-foot-wide trench. Warren firefighters, using shovels and their bare hands, were able to dig out the worker, who had been trapped for about an hour…(Read the full story)
