Schenectady admits broken pipe caused mudslide, report says

The mudslide that sent soil, stones and trees crashing into homes on Nott Terrace was caused by a broken city pipe that sent water pouring into the basement of a home above, the Daily Gazette of Schenectady reported.

Chris Wallin, the city’s engineer, told the newspaper that the water line connected to 11 Barney St. broke in the days before the Jan 28. mudslide and soaked into the home’s dirt floor…(Read the full story)
