Judge warns contractors of possible penalties if they keep causing phone outages

The Clay County Judge says AT&T wants to get the word out to contractors they could face penalties if they continue to cause phone outages and no calls were made to check for buried lines before digging.

This, after 911 service has been out five or six different times to as many as eight area counties in just the past few months.

Judge Kenneth Liggett says representatives from AT&T met with county judges from across the area met last week in Wichita Falls. He says the main message they brought was that in five out of six of the most recent outages contractors did not call 811 before they dug near the main trunk line so that AT&T could mark where the line was buried…(Read the full story)
