New ordinance requires notification of town when working on utilities

Wiggins residents and contractors who want to do any work involving or impacting town utilities will now need to notify the town of their first—or risk a citation and penalties.
Last week, the town’s Board of Trustees passed an ordinance that will require residents to notify the town of any plans to work on town utilities and receive a permit to do so.
“We are just establishing that for public rights of way and public utilities you need to come before the town and give the town a plan of what you are doing and making it basically illegal to do things on your own without notifying the town going forward,” Town Manager Paul Larino said…(Read the full story)
