S&N Communications Expands Locating Services Into Three States

Kernersville, NC and Louisa, VA (January 20, 2015) – S&N Communications has been awarded a long-term underground utility locating contract from a major telecommunications provider for the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Eastern North Carolina.

This is the company’s first major, high-volume contract for locating services in Mississippi and Louisiana, but S&N is certainly not a novice when it comes to utility locating. Together with its subsidiary company, Stake Center Locating, the organization performs more than 400,000 locates each month in more than 35 states.  Combined, the two premier locating companies maintain a record that shatters industry standards for damage-to-locate ratios.

With the Louisiana project headquarters in Baton Rouge and storage areas for equipment around the state, the company is in the process of hiring 85-plus crew members. Another 85 crew members will be hired in various locations throughout the states of Mississippi and eastern North Carolina. Tony Belford, senior director of operations for Stake Center Locating, is leading the project efforts in Mississippi and Louisiana and notes S&N is recruiting on local and national levels. “We’re under a time crunch but what’s important is we get the right people into the roles,” says Belford. His goal is to reduce/eliminate damages and elevate the quality of work being performed (previously by another vendor) to S&N and Stake Center standards.

“The goal of all of these projects is to improve quality and safety in the respective states,” echoes Carl Brumsfield, director of business relations at S&N. “That’s why S&N was brought in. Our reputation for safety and quality is unmatched in the industry and our customer is looking to us to set things right. We plan to deliver.”

S&N Communications also provides utility and infrastructure construction among its long list of services. Subsidiary companies, Tower 16 and SCE, offer wireless network and tower construction, maintenance, as well as professional services and technical construction solutions. Together, S&N and its subsidiaries are able to provide a comprehensive cradle-to-grave list of services to telecommunication and utility companies.
