Jersey City — A third water main break in as many days is affecting nearly 100 families in Jersey City, officials said.
Suez, formerly United Water, has reported an eight-inch main break on Neptune Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and Romar Avenue, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said.
Crews are currently on the scene notifying 48 residences of the break. Vehicles are being moved off the street so repairs can be begin, Morrill said.
Suez said there is no boil water advisory in place at this time and about 96 families are without water until the repair is complete.
At this time, it is unknown how long water will be shut off in the neighborhood.
This is the third water main break in Jersey City since Friday.
On New Year’s Day a 12-inch break flooded West Side Avenue between Culver and Pollock avenues.
At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, a second break was reported in the same area just hours after the first repair was complete. Seventy-five customers were without water.
