Some Decatur residents spend second day without water pressure

Crews continue to work to repair a water main break in Decatur. A construction crew hit the water main at the intersection of Willow Lane and Superior Avenue late Monday night, during a previously-scheduled project to replace the aging water and sewer system.

People who live in that area may have little to no water pressure and could see water discoloration.

No boil water advisory has been issued.

CBS46′s Will Frampton says most of the water lines in the area are due for an upgrade, with some being close to 100 years old.

Officials with the DeKalb Watershed originally said they hoped to have the break fixed by Tuesday morning.  But as the problem persisted, crews had to perform an emergency shutoff on the water line, and a DeKalb County spokeswoman was not able to give a timetable on when residents might expect to see their water pressure return.

Crews had to order a part and it should arrive Wednesday.
